Disney theme park actors were incensed Tuesday at Bob Iger’s announcement that they would be required to appear in person at work at least four days a week. Since the onset of COVID and draconian lockdowns, the Disney princesses have been moonlighting as Tik Tok-ers. Instead of working, they’ve spent most of their days in front of a camera filming themselves getting ready for work. The Get Ready With Me (#GRWM) movement has been a huge hit for out of work millennials. For many it has become a lifestyle all its own. They have become accustomed to not having to work, while still drawing a paycheck, plus government subsistence, and Tik Tok ad revenue. Now that the lockdowns are easing, and government handouts are drying up, reality is striking hard.
“I spend six hours a day filming myself getting ready for work,” one Tik Toker said. “How can my followers face the day when I’m not there to show them how to get ready for it?” While a few might make it on Tik Tok revenue alone, most #GRWM Disney Tik Tok-ers won’t. They’ll either have to show up for work, capture more Tik Tok followers, or branch out to other streaming sites like OnlyFans. Of course they could also give up their designer purse pets and reduce their living costs by 50%.
