The Hershey Corporation is facing intense blowback after plans for its 2024 Black History Month ad campaign were leaked. The leaked ads feature prominent black leaders enjoying delicious Hershey chocolate bars. But there are two slight problems with the ads. First, the products featured in the ads are all Hershey’s white chocolate products. And the prominent black leaders? Disgraced George Washington University professor Jessica Krug, former Spokane NAACP President Rachel Dolezal, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Over the weekend, a corporate spokesman told Damascus Dispatch, “We stand by our decision to feature Hershey’s white chocolate, and the selected diverse leaders for our 2024 campaign. We aim to show that race is a spectrum. It’s non-binary and fluid. People can be whatever race they prefer, and we should celebrate those brave enough to embrace their inner negro.”
There’s no word on whether or not they’ll bring in Elizabeth Warren to kick off their Native American Indian Heritage Month ad campaign in November.
