At a campaign rally in Maine on Sunday, President Elect, Kamala Harris stated that Hurricane Helene would never have happened under a Harris presidency. “Thanks to Trump appointed judges, climate change laws have not been upheld. Everyone agrees that global warming is the direct cause of Hurricanes. And Trump, he promoted global warming. He wants this for our country.”
Harris continued, “Under my adminisdtration, and there WILL be a Harris administration come hell or high water. Under my administration, hurricanes will be a thing of the past. And greedy electric companies will be required to restore power within 6 hours of any climate event. Under my administration, there will be severe penalties for power outages. Utilities will be required to PAY YOU when the power goes out. Hard working Americans can’t afford to restock their refrigerators every time there’s bad weather. They know that. And they don’t care. Your suffering doesn’t matter to them. And we can end that.”
“Greedy power companies will no longer be allowed to restore power to the most people possible. They do this only to make more money. Under my plan, power companies will be required to restore power on a first out, first on basis, regardless of the cost. My grandma lived on a country road with only one house and hers was always the first to lose power. She sat in the dark, night after night praying for power when all those city folk were living it up because their lights were already on. This inequity has got to stop. And I’m gonna stop it.”
