PETA recently praised the State of New York for the execution of Peanut the Squirrel. “The poor animal was forced into a life totally void of nature. Thank you, New York, for stepping in and delivering this wonderful creature from its pitiful life of slavery,” PETA posted on X. In a subsequent post, they continued the rant. “It’s about time something is done about the rampant exploitation of wild animals by unlicensed, untrained, unqualified, uncompasionate (sic) heathens. The inhumane treatment of this animal was just for clicks, and we’re happy to see that it will not be tolerated.”
New York officials responded, “Thanks for the support @PETA. And for all of those out there wondering, the remains of peanut were donated to a Haitian immigrant shelter. We not only saved Peanut from a life of misery, we fed a deserving family in need. #2Birds1Stone.”
