It has been two days since the LA County School workers union went on strike. Since the strike began, the primary concern has been about parents being able to find childcare for their kids. But not because they were concerned about the students well-being. Rather it is because they want to make sure the parents can still go to work.
Surprisingly, the children are doing just fine without school district supervision. Many have found refuge in public libraries, while others have taken advantage free child admission to museums and art galleries. Much to the chagrin of city workers, children have been enjoying public parks and other green spaces while school is temporarily suspended.
Unfortunately, the school worker strike will eventually come to an end and the children will be forced into the monotony of classroom din. Until then, children will – unbeknownst to them – actually continue learning in a manner that is completely natural and invigorating.
