The DOJ has opened an investigation into Oliver Anthony for numerous violations of the law. Anthony is the weekend internet sensation whose song “Rich Men North of Richmond” went viral. It topped the iTunes sales chart selling millions of copies and was the most viewed video on youtube. At the center of the investigation is the tax evasion charge. AG Merrick Garland stated, “the investigation into Oliver Anthony is for failure to file his 2023 Quarterly taxes in accordance with the law. He’s sitting on millions of dollars since last Friday and hasn’t paid a penny in taxes. It’s a clear example of the double standard that obscenely wealthy people live by. We, at the DOJ will not stand for it.”
Garland also told of a whole laundry list of crimes that Anthony has allegedly committed. “He’s an admitted drug user, and his songs wreak of other famous lyrics. Furthermore, his songs are clearly designed to incite an uprising of common men against the government. And worst of all, his fat shaming of the millions of helpless people in this country who depend on welfare for their meager existence. His libelous implication of our hardworking senators and representatives won’t be tolerated. He is to be made an example of and the rebellion of plebians like him ends TODAY!
