Man Dies of Thirst

When a man dies of thirst, people immediately wonder if he was lost in the desert or wilderness somewhere. But not these days. Recently, 27 year-old Avinandita Clay was found at his desk frantically flicking through the screens on his apple watch in a dazed frenzy. His colleagues thought it was a hilarious sight and began live streaming the event online. It was only after Clay collapsed that they realized something was terribly wrong.

By the time Emergency Medical Service arrived, Clay was barely conscious. As they assessed his condition, Clay continued to fumble with his watch. Ultimately, he stopped with a horrified look on his face. One paramedic stated that he was in shock when he looked down at the man’s watch and saw that he hadn’t had a drink of water in over 11 days. Coworkers interviewed said they wondered if something was going on with Clay since he’d been obsessed with his watch for a little over a week. Unfortunately Clay died on his way to the hospital and couldn’t be revived.

Investigators at the scene discovered a smartflask on the deceased’s desk with a dead battery. The flask was filled with water but hadn’t been opened recently. Investigators concluded that the flask had stopped communicating with the apple watch and was no longer sending alerts. Richland County coroner concluded that Clay had likely been searching for the hydration app on his watch for several days. “After 11 days, without water, his body simply shut down. Millennials should really learn to listen to their bodies.”
